The Shastra Seema Bal(SSB) recently announced several vacancies for the post of Assistant sub- inspector (ASI) ,Head Constable (HC), Constable (Tradesman and Driver ) and Sub- inspector (SI ) last date to apply for these vacancy is 4/may/2026. There is a mandatory qualifying typing test for the post of ASI and Head Constable (Ministerial).  Basically it is qualifying in nature but a candidate must qualify this test. Stages of selection

There are five stages for selection for these post such like :

1. Physical Efficiency & Standard Test(PET/PST)
2. Written Exam (CET)
3. Skill Test ( Typing and Steno )
4. Document Verification
5. Medical Examination

Requirement for Typing Test

Language :-

• English OR Hindi (candidates can select one )

Duration :- 10 minutes

Speed :-

• 35w.p.m. for English
• 30w.p.m. for Hindi

Font :- For Hindi typing Mangal Font

Backspace :- Fully enabled (don’t use much it will lead to reduce candidates net speed )

Accuracy :- 95%

Error Evaluation

In SSB typing test generally 5% errors are allowed beyond that candidate will be disqualified. There will be 2 type of error :-

Full Mistake 

• Omitting
• substituting
• adding words
• spelling errors

Half Mistake

•  Errors in spacing
• capitalization
• Punctuation Errors : Putting a comma instead of a full stop

Note :- There will be no auto scroll and no error highlight. 

Net Speed (WPM) = Total words typed – (excess mistake x 10)/ 10
