The official notification for UP  Police ASI has been released in 2025 for 537 posts for different categories covering roles in  Confidential, Clerk, and Accounts cadres. The notification has been published by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB).

There will be a typing test in the UP Police ASI exam, which is qualifying in nature. This means it is mandatory to pass, but its marks are not included in the final merit list.

Selection Process

There will be four different stages

1. written exam
2. typing and stenography test
3. document verification
4. medical examination

Typing Test Interface

The typing exam interface of UP Police ASI mostly has the typing material on the upper half of the screen while the lower half of the screen is used for typing the text.

• Language – English and Hindi(Unicode).
• Time duration -15minute
• Passage length – For English 500 words and for Hindi 400 words.
• Speed requirement- Hindi 25wpm and for English 30wpm.
• For ASI Accountant position speed – 15wpm in Hindi required ( English typing not required )
• Marks allocation- It is qualifying
• Accuracy – 90% required
• Backspace- fully enabled

    Note:- There will be no word highlight or error highlight, and the scroll will be manual.

Full Errors

1. Wrong word
2. Missing word
3. Extra word
4. Spelling mistake

 Half Errors

1. Spacing mistake
2. Capital letter mistake
3. Punctuation mistake
4. Word order change

Error formula

Total Errors = Full Errors + (Half Errors × 0.5)
